DIY Kitchen Hamper

In just about every kitchen I've ever had, there's a clutter problem with dirty laundry. Among all the towels, rags, and napkins, kitchen laundry adds up - especially if you're like me, trying not to use paper towels or paper napkins. And I don't know about you, dear readers, but mine usually ends up piled on the floor. Well, not anymore! Thanks to this cute little DIY hamper :)

So here's what I used for my new little kitchen hamper:

  • Small, cheap, plastic trash can (you can get them for just a few dollars, especially at back-to-school time in the fall)
  • Fabric (mine was a thrifted curtain)
  • Ribbon
  • Duct tape

This guy has been hanging around our apartment with no purpose, and I've been debating whether to get rid of him. Glad I didn't!

Just lay your piece of fabric over top of the trash bin. Then push the center of the fabric down into the can, making sure the leftover fabric is even all around.
Once you've got the fabric even, gather it however you want, and tie some ribbon around it to secure it in place.

Now, carefully turn the whole thing over and gather up the extra fabric on the bottom. Trim it so it folds 2 or 3 inches under the bottom of the trash can.

Finally, use duct tape (yes, duct tape!) to secure the fabric to the bottom of the bin.
